The Government of Kebbi State, has denied reports that thirteen schoolgirls of the Federal Government College in Birnin Yauri have been married off to bandits.
A report on Daily Trust said some of the female students have been married off to bandits and are currently pregnant after they have been in captivity for eight months.
It was learned that despite payment of ransom and prisoner swap, the remaining abductees have been kept in captivity in order to cater for the well being of the terrorists.
Their captor and bandit kingpin, Dogo Gide, had threatened to convert the males into terrorists by training them on gun handling and marrying off the females.
Gilde had reportedly made good his pledge as he gave out at least 13 of the students to bandits and a few interested persons living in villages along the boundary between Niger and Zamfara states.
While speaking to The PUNCH, however, the Special Adviser to Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, Yahaya Sarki, said the state government was not aware of the development.
“We are not aware of the marriage but I read the story on Daily Trust online and I also heard the news from BBC Hausa in the evening of today Monday,” he said.
