2023 Election: Tinubu absent as candidates set to sign peace pact

The presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu
will most likely miss the signing of the peace pact ahead of the 2023 elections in Nigeria.

The National Peace Committee (NPC) is chaired by retired General Abdulsalami Abubakar, a former Head of State.

The team members include respected cleric Bishop Matthew Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese.

Meanwhile, Tinubu who currently in the United Kingdom, will be represented by his vice Kashim Shettima.

The APC recently announced the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) but the composition has generated resentment.

The list released by the PCC Secretary, James Faleke includes a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Chimaroke Nnamani, while some names, like ex-Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi, appeared twice.

The National Working Committee (NWC) and the Governors have voiced their rejection of the 422-member council and are demanding its expansion.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) lifted the ban on Presidential and National Assembly campaigns on Wednesday.
