2023 Presidency: Governors Threaten to Pull Out of APC Campaign Council

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday postponed the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) for the 2023 election.

Raye24reporters had earlier reported that the inauguration of the council members which was earlier fixed for Monday was shifted to Wednesday, September 28.

There are claims that the ruling party rescheduled the council’s inauguration due to controversies surrounding the list of the PCC.

A source that spoke with our correspondent on the development said grievances of the National Working Committee (NWC) and some members of the APC Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) are the major reason for the postponement.

A member of APC leadership noted that the party NWC has disassociated itself from the list of the party presidential campaign council.

The NWC member further stated that they would meet tomorrow to take a final step if they would participate in the inauguration or not.

The source said, “How can the PCC, in the first place, fix the distribution of letters to members that the party’s leadership has not even endorsed? I think they are going too far.

“They are still fighting the leadership and fighting the governors over the list, yet they want to go ahead with the inauguration.

“If, for instance, there is no controversy over the list, should the PCC even be the right authority to disburse the letters and conduct the inauguration, when it is the responsibility of our National Chairman? I think the PCC is simply having a crisis of confidence. I can tell you that the party’s leadership is not officially aware of any inauguration be it Monday or Wednesday.”
