24-yr-old strangles friend to death after visiting a witch doctor in Enugu

A 24-year-old man has killed his friend.
According to the Enugu State Police Command, on Monday, its operatives have remanded one Onuabuchi Agbo, for strangling to death and burying his friend, a 44-year-old Peter Ukekwe, in a shallow grave in Enugu State.

The suspect who hails from Ebonyi State, had visited a native doctor, identified as Onyeka Ede, with his deceased friend at Amori, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, but left their host’s house in the night, only for him to strangle his friend to death and bury him in a shallow grave.

According to a statement by the spokesperson for the Enugu State Police Command, Daniel Ndukwe, the suspect was arrested while he was attempting to escape to Ogidi, Anambra State where he resides.

The reason for his action has not been ascertained at press time.

Part of the statement from the police read “A young man, Agbo Onuabuchi aged 24, a native of Ebonyi State, but resident at Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been arraigned and remanded in Enugu Custodial Centre, for strangling to death and burying his male friend, one Peter Ukekwe aged 44, in a shallow grave, at Amori community in Nkanu West Local Government Area, on 01/04/2023.

”The suspect and the deceased, had on the said date, traveled from Ogidi, Anambra State, to the mentioned location to visit one Onyeka Edeh (male and a Native Doctor). However, during the night hours, the duo left the host’s house for an unknown destination. A search was conducted, but they were not found until the following morning, when the suspect was arrested at Obe community in the same LGA, by Police Operatives serving in Nkanu West Division of Enugu State Command, with the assistance of citizens, while he was attempting to escape back to Ogidi, Anambra State.

“The suspect confessed to the crime, stating that he strangled the victim to death and buried him in a shallow grave in the bush, where his remains were exhumed and deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy. The case was, thereafter, transferred to the Homicide Section of the State CID Enugu, where investigation into the case was consolidated, concluded and the suspect arraigned and remanded accordingly for further hearing.
