A non-teaching staff of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Mr Abdul-azeez Abdullahi has been reportedly stabbed during an examination.
Sources revealed that the incident happened at the Red block hall of the institution on Friday afternoon.
The viral pictures of the victim who was among the invigilators in the hall showed he was deeply stabbed by the hoodlum.
While explaining, an eyewitness said the man walked into the hall after the students had been cleared for the afternoon paper, and began to constitute a nuisance and disrupting examination.
The source said, “The disruptive and offensive behaviour of the unknown man got unbearable and eventually prompted an invigilator, Mr Abdul-azeez Abdullahi to confront him to leave the hall, and this led to altercation between the duo and the unknown man broke one of the window louvres and stab the invigilator, Mr Abdul-azeez in different parts of his body, which include his back, hand and head.
“After he stabbed the invigilator, he made his way out of the hall and escaped. Thereafter, Mr Abdul-azeez Abdullahi was given a first aid treatment at OSPOLY medical center, before he was taken to Ore Ofe hospital, in Iree, Osun State,” the anonymous source added.
While confirming the incident, the Dean Of Students’ Affairs of the institution, Dr Tope Abiola, said the culprit is not a student of the institution.
Abiola explained further, “The culprit is not our student. we are aware of the incident and we are collaborating with the Police to ensure that the culprit is identified and arrested. However, the member of staff of the institution who was injured by the miscreant is recovering fast.”
