Residents of Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji in Zamfara State have started gathering signatures from registered voters to initiate the recall of their National Assembly representative, Aminu Sani Jaji. This move is in line with Section 69 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.
The decision to recall Jaji, a member of the House of Representatives for Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency, stemmed from his suspension by the Birnin Magaji Ward Executive of the APC, a suspension that was later confirmed by the Birnin Magaji Local Government Area Executive and the APC State Working Committee in Zamfara State.
The constituents are now preparing to send a formal letter to the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Gusau, Zamfara State, and the Electoral Officers for Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji local government areas, requesting recall forms to oust Jaji from his position in the lower chamber.
They criticize Jaji for ineffective representation in the Federal House of Representatives, citing his lack of engagement with communities affected by bandit attacks and failure to fulfill electoral promises.
The constituents also express displeasure at Jaji’s alleged involvement in party factionalism, his opposition to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his overall performance falling short of expectations in addressing the challenges faced by the constituency.
