The remains of an 11-year-old girl has been recovered by the emergency response team at a scene of a mosque that collapsed in the Papa Ajao area of Lagos State on Sunday.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident while responding to inquiries about the rescue operation at the scene of the tragedy.
He said, “The rescue operation is ongoing but as I speak with you, the corpse of an 11-year-old girl has been recovered. The operation is still ongoing.”
Raye24reporters learnt that worshipers were in the mosque praying when it suddenly collapse in during afternoon prayers.
While some people escaped from the incident, others, who were unlucky, got trapped under the rubble.
Alarmed by the development, residents while attempting to rescue some of the trapped victims, emergency responders, including the police stormed the premises to commence the rescue operation.
