Navy Decorates 19 Naval Master Officers

The Nigerian Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla has decorated 19 Naval Master Officers as part of the military tradition and practices to promote personnel who have been qualified and met relevant criteria by service expectations for their hard work and commitment.

He said that “More importantly, an unblemished record of service is one of the keys for elevation in the course of duties”.

The CNS made this known during the decoration ceremony of nineteen officers that were recently promoted to Master Warrant Officers to the apex rank in the Ratings cadre at Naval Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Rear Admiral Joseph Akpan, the Naval Chief, said that “the decoration is something to be proud of as he applauded them for the achievement”.

He charged the decorated officers for much sacrifice to their Fatherland and sacrifice for the Nigerian Navy, especially this particular period of very challenging security situation in the maritime environment.

According to the CNS, the elevated officers have played key roles before, and now they have been called upon to play even more important roles, because some of them, when they are deployed, some of them will find themselves at the Niger Delta that they should not allow the elevation to rubbish them by their attitude towards their duties.

He urged them to maintain the confidence put on them before now because if they are indisciplined, they will not get promoted adding that as they are promoted, they should live by example and finish their service well.
The Naval Chief commended their wives for the support given to the officers, which enabled them to attain such a level as he urged them for more support in the course of their duties.

On behalf of the decorated officers, the most senior, Master Warrant Philip Shishi expressed their gratitude to God and to the chief of the Naval Staff for finding them worthy of this promotion to the rank of Naval Master warrant officers, promising for more dedication to their duties.

“High rank comes with high responsibility”.

He assured the Naval Chief that their team would behold the sanctity of their new rank with more dedication and continue to be loyal to actualize the vision of the CNS.
