A group of over 20 medical and dental students, along with a House Officer, were kidnapped by gunmen in Benue State.
According to Daily Post, the students, who were en route to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu, were ambushed during their journey.
The victims are reportedly from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, and the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area.
The Benue State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the abduction and stated that an investigation into the incident is underway.
“Yes, the report of kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing,” Anene said.
