A 53-year-old man identified as Bitrus Daniyan, has been remanded in prison by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, for alleged sexual assault of his seven-year-old daughter.
The Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, who reject the plea of Mr. Daniyan, ordered that the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
Kubeinje adjourned the case until Oct. 15 for the DPP’s advice.
The defendant was facing a charge of indecent sexual assault.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. John Iberedem, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in June at Military Zone C, Nominee Estate, Ajah, Lagos.
According to Iberedem, the defendant sexually assaulted his daughter by inserting his finger into her private part, explained that Daniyan was caught by neighbors and handed over to the police.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor ruled that the offence contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2015.
