In a confirmed case of fraud and harassment, Tiger credit, a well-known digital lending platform, has been exposed for systematically scamming its users and using intimidation tactics to extract repayments for loans that were never fully disbursed.
A borrower, Adeosun Ejumuroke Beatrice has bravely come forward to expose the platform’s illegal practices after suffering harassment and threats from the company.
On September 19, 2024, Adeosun applied for a loan of #35,000 through the Tigercredit app, with an agreement to repay #37,450. However, only #24,500 was credited to her account—significantly less than the promised amount.
Despite reaching out to Tigercredit agent, Emmanuel Okafor for clarification, she received no resolution. Attempts to file a formal complaint through the app were futile, as she was directed to a fake email address, leaving her stranded.
In an attempt to clear her debt, Adeosun repaid #26,950—an amount exceeding the disbursed loan—before the due date. But rather than acknowledge the overpayment, Tigercredit agents bombarded her with harassment. One particularly aggressive message, sent by phone number 08067293804, threatened to publicly shame her by contacting her family, friends, and colleagues.
“Ridiculing yourself to a point where all your contacts (PASTORS, CLERICS (IMAM), IN-LAW, COLLEAGUES, NEIGHBORS, WORK PLACE, CHURCH, FRIENDS) you saved on ur phone will be hearing about a loan… I will advise that you pay this loan NOW to avoid embarrassment. Because the system will START calling/sending messages to all your contacts and your BVN is at stake.”
This form of harassment is not unique to Adeosun’s experience. Numerous reviews on the Google Play Store confirm that Tigercredit has been running a well-orchestrated scam, where users receive lower loan amounts than promised and are then threatened into paying back the full loan amount plus exorbitant interest. These threats include the use of personal data to humiliate borrowers by contacting their family members and social circles.
Tigercredit’s app lists its address at 86 Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Surulere, Lagos, but many victims have found little recourse in dealing with the company. Borrowers are consistently misled, pressured into making payments, and subjected to abusive tactics that violate consumer rights.
Adeosun, like countless others, is now calling for action against Tigercredit. “This company is a fraud,” she declared. “They scammed me and then harassed me into paying more than I borrowed. No one should fall victim to this.”
