Bye-bye, Damagun, Go And Join APC – Dino Melaye

Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye has intensified the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by openly challenging the suspended acting national chairman, Umar Damagum, to “join the All Progressives Congress, APC.”

Melaye did not hold back in his critique of Damagum, labeling him an “agent of destruction.”

He expressed that Damagum’s tenure has inflicted enough damage on the PDP, calling for his departure.

In a post on X, Melaye stated, “APC agent of destruction, enough is enough, Damagum. Go and join APC in peace.”

He further emphasized his point with a blunt farewell: “Bye-bye, Damagum, the harm you’ve done is enough.”

The backdrop to Melaye’s remarks is a recent internal upheaval within the PDP.

A faction of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) took the decisive step of suspending Damagum along with other key figures, including national secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, national publicity secretary Debo Ologunagba, and national legal adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade.

However, the situation is complicated by a recent ruling from the Abuja Federal High Court.

The court has placed a restraining order on the PDP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and the Board of Trustees (BoT), preventing them from removing Damagum from his position as acting national chairman.

The court’s directive mandates that Damagum remains the recognized leader of the party until the national convention, which is set to take place in December next year.
