Singer Speed Darlington Apologises to Burna Boy

Nigerian singer, Darlington Achakpo, also known as Speed Darlington, has apologized to fellow musician Damini Ogulu, known as Burna Boy, following a recent incident that led to his detention.

Speed Darlington’s lawyer, Stan Alieke, shared a statement on social media shortly after his client’s release from custody, clarifying the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Speed Darlington was reportedly detained after Burna Boy filed a petition against him, prompting concerns from fans who noticed his absence and expressed worry online.

In the statement, Alieke explained that Speed Darlington’s videos, which stirred controversy, were intended purely for entertainment, with no aim to defame or insult anyone. He also noted that Darlington is known for bringing joy to his audience, and his remarks were misinterpreted.

Addressing the comments about Burna Boy’s mother, Alieke emphasized that Speed Darlington holds his own mother in high regard and never intended any disrespect. He stated that the remarks were taken out of context and were unintentional.

To make amends, Speed Darlington personally reached out to Burna Boy and his team in a gesture of goodwill, offering further clarification and an apology.

“Our client has privately reached out to his colleague and his team in the spirit of brotherhood and extension of an olive branch and to offer further clarification in person to him,” the statement concluded.
