Obasanjo, Worries Over Foreign Trips, Says Nigeria is Losing Money

Former Nigeria President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has expressed worries over the mass exodus of Nigerians to foreign lands.

Chief Obasanjo, during an interview with News Central, linked the ‘japa’ syndrome to frustration and unemployment in the country.

The former president expressed worries that Nigeria is losing a lot of money due to youths leaving the country for greener pastures in other countries.

He said, “I’m worried, particularly with the youth. I have said it before and I’ll say it again, we are all sitting on a keg of gunpowder if we ignore our youths.

“They are frustrated, they are hungry, they are unemployed, and they are angry.

“Now part of the lecture we had is the amount of money we are losing by the Nigerian youths that ‘japa.’ I’m worried about that.”
