2023: Atiku Meets PDP Senators, Vows to Protect Constitutional Independence

Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has vowed to protect the constitutional independence and freedom of Nigerians if elected the next President.

Atiku made this known during a meeting with the Peoples Democratic Party Senators in Abuja on Wednesday.

The PDP chieftain stated that his passion for the progress of this country necessitated his quest to be President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.

Abubakar expressed confidence in becoming the PDP flagbearer, stating that he had the mental and physical energy to serve the party and the country.

The former vice president promised to work with the National Assembly and ensure a smooth and careful legislative process if elected the President in 2023.

He said: “When we get into power, I want to work in harmony with the National Assembly and protect constitutional independence and freedom. Most of the changes we want to bring require constitutional adjustment and that cannot happen without cooperating with the National Assembly.

“I want to ensure a smooth and careful legislative process. I will give my best and work with politicians and great resourceful people in our party; I have the mental and physical energy to serve our party to the fullest.

Above all, it is my passion for the progress of this country that drives my quest for the Presidency of this country.”

In a Facebook post after the meeting, Abubakar said he got reassuring responses from the PDP lawmakers regarding his quest to become president.

He wrote: “I just concluded my consultation with senate caucus of the PDP. The responses from the Senators about the prospects of fixing Nigeria & bringing prosperity to our people are reassuring. I thank you all Distinguished Senators for making time for tonight’s interaction.”
