As tolling is set to return to the Lekki Toll Gate and the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge, heavily armed security operatives have been stationed in the area.
The Lekki Concession Company Limited had halted tolling at the two places following the death of some #EndSARS protesters on October 20, 2020.
Earlier in the month, the LCC disclosed that the bridge and toll gate will be reopened and tolling would resume at the two places.
However, Lekki Estate Residents and Stakeholders Association rejected the move adding that the timing was wrong because of the prevailing hardships in the country.
Meanwhile, a reporter with Channels TV, Olu Phillips was harassed and manhandled by Police Officers stationed at the Lekki Toll Gate on Friday morning.
Phillips was covering the re-opening of the Toll Gate when armed police officers attacked and bundled him into a waiting van.
According to Phillips, it took the intervention of some pedestrians and commuters who witnessed the incident and challenged the officers before he was released.
