Security in Kano State has been beefed up as President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to arrive the state today.
As Kano is expecting to host Buhari at Nigeria Air Force Week Opening, raye24reporters, gathered that the President is to declare open the Nigeria Air Force Week holding in the state capital city today.
However, Deu to heightened tension of insecurity in the state and other Northern region, a heavy presence of security agencies have been reported.
Heavily armed security personnel have been mounted on designated places including the road leading to the palace of the Emir of Kano, Naija News understands.
At the Emir’s palace, hundreds of heavily armed security including men of the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, among others were stationed at the gate and around the palace with their vehicles, including EOD vehicles from the State House.
Daily Trust, however, reported that journalists were barred from gaining entrance into the palace, where the president is expected to visit before heading to the venue of the Air Force week.
Naija News recalls that there was a case of explosion last week in the Sabon Gari area of Kano state.
At least nine persons had died from the incident with as many more injured.
Though there were controversies earlier over what led to the explosion with residents saying it was a bomb attack while the police said all evidence pointed to gas/chemical explosion.
Two days after the explosion, the police said it recovered a vehicle laden with Improvised Explosives Device (IED) materials, guns and ammunition in the state.
