Breaking: President Buhari Allegedly Sacks CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele

President Muhammadu has sacked the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, our reporter has unreliably gathered.

Godwin Emefiele has been embroiled in controversy after expressing genuine interest in becoming Nigeria’s next presidency and refusing to resign his position before running.

Following a public outcry calling for his resignation shortly after purchasing the All Progressives Congress (APC) N100m form, Emefiele approached a Federal High Court in Abuja to prevent the country’s electoral body, INEC, from disqualifying him.

In response to his appointees’ expressions of interest, President Buhari ordered the resignation of all cabinet members interested in running for political office in 2023.

While some of his appointees complied with the order, many, including the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, did not.

The CBN governor withdrew his lawsuit against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Attorney-General of the Federation on Tuesday.

His exact reasons for withdrawing the suit are unknown; however, his lawyers explained that he asked the court to dismiss the suit and issue an order striking it out.

In the early hours of Wednesday, rumors circulated that he had been fired by the Federal Government.
