Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri, member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has debunked reports of Governor, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State meeting with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in France.
Recall that on Thursday, the APC chieftain
alleged that Wike met with Tinubu in France. The claim fueled rumour of possible defection of the Rivers State governor to the APC.
The former Minister of Police Affairs, while reacting to the claim in an interview with Daily Trust, disclosed that the Rivers State Governor on Wednesday, was in Istanbul, Turkey.
He said; “Governor Wike came directly from Nigeria to Istanbul, Turkey. He did not go to France as speculated. This is to debunk the propaganda of the APC through Igbokwe.
This is fake news orchestrated by the sinking ruling party which is on its way out.”
Asked what their mission to Istanbul is, he said; “What is your business with our mission? We came to rest after our national convention. Of course, as a political animal, I do politics anywhere I find myself.”
