Five Dies, Homes Destroyed Over Heavy Rainstorm in Jigawa

No fewer than Five people were reportedly killed in Jigawa state as a result of heavy rainfall in two community in kirikasamma local govt area of the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by the local govt information officer Alhaji sunusi A. Doro, which was made available to newsmen in Dutse, According to him, the communities affected include, likori where 3 persons were killed and kira village, where two persons was also killed as a result of building collapse.

However, in likori community seven persons were reportedly sustained serious injuries and now receiving treatment in Hadejia General Hospital.

According to the report gathered, the Local Govt Chairman, Alh Isah adamu Matara, has since paid a visit to the effected areas to condole with the families of those affected and those who lost their life.

Alh Isah adamu Matara, also noted that Tandanu Village, has been totally washed away by the flood, living many families stranded who are now taking refuge at public building .

The chairman said the local Govt will soon render it’s assistants to the victims he therefore appealed to NEMA and SEMA to come to their aid.

Alh Isah Matara, also stated that many houses were destroyed in Tandanu, Turabu, Auyakayi , all in Kirikasamma local govt area, other affected communities include: Tsangaya Unguwar Arewa, Tudun Muntsira Majema, Gagulmari maijalaleni and Bareri Sabuwa.

Meanwhile, more than 40 houses were destroyed as a result of torrential rainfall in the area.

Similarly a report from Guri Local Govt Area, according to the village head of Margadu Malam Mummunar Muhammed Aisami, Two Hamlet were taken over by flood and the families are now taking refuge at primary schools and other public building in the area.
