Tension in Zamfara Over Possible Reprisal Attack by Notorious Bandit – Bello Turji

According to the emerging report on Tuesday morning, there is panic currently spread in Zamfara State and its environs over planned attack by a deadly terrorist group reportedly under the control of bandit kingpin, Bello Turji.

It is claimed in the alarm reportedly raised by residents of the state that Turji’s gangs may be planning to unleash reprisal attacks on Gusau-Sokoto-Zaria roads following the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) bombardment of his camps in Zamfara forest.

Raye24reporters, learnt that security operatives in the state were alerted by a source who pleaded to be anonymous for security reasons.

According to the source, the terror group were regrouping in the forests to launch a reprisal over the killing of scores of their members by the NAF days ago.

“Please be careful, bandits are currently in the general area of Tureta, Anka axis. Just rustled hundreds of cows from Birisawa village heading towards Mallanji village in Tureta Local Government Area of Sokoto State”, Daily Post quoted the source as saying.

Also, he warned commuters along Sokoto – Gusau Tsafe – Funtua road to avoid the route until the tension is down.

The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Kolo Yusuf, stated in a publication earlier that his administration will not spare bandits, or terrorists any space in the state.

Yusuf who spoke during a press briefing noted that he was not deployed to the state to play but to show superiority and professionalism to the bandits.

“Most of my assignments in my police carrier have been a total gun battle with terrorists and bandits. So I am sending a red signal to them that it will no longer be business as usual,” he added.

Meanwhile, the military and police operatives in the state have vowed that they would engage the bandits in a fire for fire operation, pointing out that they were ready to carry the war to the bandits’ dens in the forests.
