The All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2023 general elections is battling a financial crisis despite generating billions from sales of forms.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari in February had directed the party to refund party members who purchased forms for the Chairmanship position of the party.
President Buhari had given the directive following the decision of some chairmanship aspirants to step down for Abdullahi Adamu who eventually emerged as National Chairman of the party.
Adamu had gained the support of President Buhari which eventually led to his emergence.
However, months after the convention of the ruling party was held, APC has failed to refund the former chairmanship aspirants.
The APC had sold its expression of interest and nomination forms for chairmanship aspirants at the rate of N20m.
One of the chairmanship aspirants, Sunny Sylvester Moniedafe (Jagaban Jimeta) from Adamawa State while speaking to Daily Trust on Tuesday said APC has not refunded their money.
He said, “They have not refunded it. I am worried honestly. They have not paid us. I don’t want to complain but this is not right at all.
“Somebody called us and said we should give details of our accounts, but for over a month now, nothing has happened.”
