NPC Solicit Support From Jigawa Government to Recruit More Adhoc Staff

The national population commission NPC, has called on the government of Jigawa state to assist in addressing the issue of Manpower in the commission.

The call was made by the chairman of the civil society organization Malam Musbahu Basirka, during a stakeholders meeting held at the sir. Ahmadu Bello hall new Secretariat in Dutse, the Jigawa state capital.

Basirka, stated that with all huge amount disbursed by the federal government in to local government treasury account, only two local government chairmen were able to attend the stakeholders summit held at the state secretariat despite the huge allocation received.

Basirka, who accused the absentee council chairman for not doing right, advised the state government to quarry the twenty five chairmen who failed to attend the the National population summit.

While explaining further, he noted that the chairmen of councils are very closed to the grassroot and they have a greater role to play in enlightening the populace in their areas.

“Therefore the state government should take a drastic measure that will force all of them to participate in the conduct of the exercise for the national population to achieved it’s targets objectives,” he said.

In his speech the federal commissioner National Population Commission Hon, A G Zakar Kafin Hausa, said the commission conducted various exercise in the state, considering it’s maximum support given to them in the area of security mobilization, finance and other logistic which resulted to a successful end of all their exercise.

Zakar added that the NPC also appealed to the state government to assist the commission in recruiting more adhoc staff and providing more registration centres in the 27 local government areas for effectives delivery.

He advise also the state government to support in improving and sustained the strategic sensitization advocacy and publicity through the use of traditional rulers to scale up the programme in the state.

Zakar added “the birth and death registration were among the fundamental exercise in the programme of the national population commission because it enable an individual to know his identity.

“It will also help the parent to ensure the age of school enrolment, qualifying for voting and Visa obtainment while the death registration will give a history of disaster and give a room for research and prevention by the medical experts”, he said

He therefore explained that the conduct of the 2023 population and housing census is among the most concern in the country, stressing that the commission is highly committed to ensure the result acceptable to Nigerians.

Zakar stated that the 2023 census will count every one in the right way at the right place at the right time for sustainable development for the benefits of Nigerians 

He than sympathise with the flood victims in the state and the country in general
