The Guri local government area of Jigawa state, has purchased relief materials worth millions of Naira for onward distribution to flood disaster victims of makazza community of the area whose houses were washed away by the calamity.
Our correspondent reports that at least 350 houses were submerged as a result of excess flow of water due the over flooding of river jam’are in Buchi state which wrecked havoc in many communities of Guri and Kirikasamma local government areas of Jigawa state.
The chairman of Guri local government Ahaji Shua’ibu Mahamad, who sympathized with victims described the disaster as a destiny from God which is an inevitable and prayed that God may prevent the re-occurrence of such disaster again.
Represented by his deputy ALhaji Muhammadu Aliyu Gaidan has expressed shock over the disaster stating that the relief materials distributed include; 100, pieces of rubber mats, 50 bags of blankets 100 sets mosquito nets, 15 bags of Gari, five bags of sugar, and one canoe as well as drugs and other materials.
He appealed to the Federal and state government to assist the victims with more relief materials in order to cushion the effect of the disaster.
The chairman disclosed that the materials were meant for flood victims and warned that any body attempted to steal on a single item if caught, will face the full wrath of the law.
It will be recalled that Jigawa state was the most hits by this year’s heavy rainfall caused serious damaged to houses and farmlands and thousands of people were rendered homeless.
