Court acquits former Jigawa Gov of N36 billion charges

The Federal High Court sitting in Dutse, Jigawa State, has on Thursday, discharged and acquitted senator Ibrahim Saminu Turaki  of the N 36 billion corruption charges leveled against him by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Raye24reporters, learnt that Saminu Turaki and 3 other companies has been standing trial since May 4, 2007 in a suit filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commissioner (EFCC) on a 33-count charge.

The former governor was arraigned by the EFCC before Justice Binta Murtala Nyako of the Federal Capital Territory High Court on July 13, 2007, on a 33-count charge.

The former Senator, Alhaji Ibrahim Saminu Turaki, who was a two time Jigawa state governor, has been discharged and acquitted of all charges leveled against him by the anti-graft agency.
