Tinubu: Buhari asked to step down from APC presidential campaign council

President Muhammadu Buhari has been called upon to step down as the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council.

Deji Adeyanju, an Abuja-based rights activist, explained that Buhari should step down from the campaign council in the interest of a free and fair election.

Recently, the APC appointed Buhari to head the Bola Tinubu-Yerima Shettima’s presidential council ahead of the next elections.

However, Adeyanju said it was a terrible sign for Buhari to head the APC’s PCC.

The activist said: “President Buhari can not be talking of a free and fair election while he is the Chairman of a campaign council of a political party.

“This is a terrible signal of conflict of interest and bad body language to the electorates. He is the father of the nation, and he should stay neutral.

“I, therefore, call on Mr president to step down from his appointment as the Chairman of the campaign council of the APC to allow for a free and fair election as he has promised Nigerians and the international community will be impressed with such a move.”
