Qatar 2022: Hudson-Odoi town down world cup chance with Ghana

Chelsea forward, Callum Hudson-Odoi has declined a World Cup call-up option from Ghana after being omitted by England’s Manager.

The Englishman of Ghanaian origin rejected the opportunity to represent Ghana in the World Cup in Qatar and will instead delay deciding his future in the international arena.

The winger is currently on loan at Bayer Leverkusen this season and has established himself as a key member of the German team, who are currently ranked 10th in the Bundesliga.

The 22-year-old’s performance doesn’t seem to catch the attention of Gareth Southgate but has tickled the attention of the Ghanaian side looking to strengthen their side in the World Cup tournament.

Due to his parents, Hudson-Odoi has the option of choosing Ghana and may decide to switch to England even after participating in three England matches.

The player only made these appearances while he was under the age of 21, so if he chooses, he may play for another country.

Even though Hudson hasn’t lived up to Southgate’s expectations, the forward reportedly thought about committing his future to England this year. He plans to stick with that choice indefinitely.

He turned down a call-up from Ghana for the upcoming World Cup, according to the Evening Standard, but for the time being, he has chosen not to change his national team allegiance.
