Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development has today presented Merit Award to various eminent personalities in Nigeria who distinguished themselves in the contributions for the development of women folks.
The Merit Award Dinner for Champions of change organised by MBNCWD was held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
Dr. Kulu Haruna Abubakar who was among the recipients of the Merit award was a Director, Tinubu/Shatima Campaign Council in charge of North West Zone.
She also worked under six Sokoto State Governors, at Executive level, as a Director General, Commissioner, Ministry of Education, Ministry for Commerce and Industries, Ministry for Science and Technology as well as served two times as a Special Adviser.
She equally served as Zonal Coordinator for Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States. Besides, she is a recipient of National Honour of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) and of course, seventh times recipient of Certificate of Merit from the Famous University of Madina.
Dr. Kulu Haruna Abubakar was the only Commissioner Honoured by the State Executive Council in 1997 for initiating Community participation in Education in Sokoto State.
Furthermore, she was the Initiator of Sokoto State Women Centre for Continuing Education and Public Transportation System for Female Day Students in Sokoto State in1996 and host of others.
The occasion was witnessed by many distinguished personalities that include the wife of the Vice President, the immediate Minister of Women Affairs, some Governor’s wives, Director General, MBNCWD and other great men and women politicians across the country.
