NASS To Wade Into Alleged Stagnation of 2012 Intakes of Civil Defence Corps With HND.

The House of Representatives has indicated interest to resolve the alleged Stagnation of Personnel of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps employed in 2012.

A member of the House, Honourable Akin Rotimi Jnr, presented the petition recently during plenary on behalf of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp 2012 HND intake.

“The petitioners pleaded with the House to look into the matter and help redress the issue of career stagnation that has made them stay on the same position for 11 years without promotion, despite the fact that the HND/BSc dichotomy has been abolished in Military and Paramilitary establishments since 2016”.

The Honourable Member submitted that the issue is sad and demoralizing for career officers, who are on the frontline confronting our security challenges across the country.

According to him, “these personnel have missed 4 cycles of promotion because they hold HND qualifications”.

Honourable Rotimi stated, “This matter affects a good number of our constituents, but also officers from every part of the country”.

The Rt. Honourable Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, has referred the matter to the House Standing Committee on Public Petitions (when constituted).

Honourable Rotimi assured that he will follow up the issue with them and other relevant authorities, by the grace of God.

He also promised to join other like minds to take up legislative action from where the 9th Assembly stopped, on the unwarranted, discrimination against holders of HND certificates from our Polytechnics.

“These Nigerians are no less competent and qualified than their counterpart graduates from our universities”, he queried.
