KWIBUKA 30: Nigeria Stands in Solidarity With Rwanda

As Rwanda marks the 30th anniversary of the 1994 genocide, Nigeria has issued a strong message of solidarity with the Rwandan people.

“Kwibuka 30 serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of intolerance, hate, and division,” stated Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs for Nigeria.

“The Rwandan people endured immense suffering, and their journey towards healing and rebuilding is truly inspiring.”

The statement highlights the importance of learning from the past: “The Rwandan Genocide stands as a testament to the devastating impact of violence and conflict. We must strive to build societies founded on tolerance, inclusivity, and mutual respect,” Ambassador Tuggar emphasised.

Nigeria commends Rwanda’s commitment to reconciliation: “Their commitment to unity, forgiveness, and reconciliation serves as a beacon of hope for all nations grappling with the scars of past atrocities,” the statement reads.

Looking towards the future, Nigeria pledges its support for continued efforts towards justice and peace: “On this solemn occasion, Nigeria reiterates its support for the pursuit of justice, accountability, and reconciliation in Rwanda and worldwide,” the statement concludes. “May the memory of the Rwandan Genocide catalyze our collective commitment to building a more peaceful and just world.”
