Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have arrested a 16-year-old boy, Emmanuel John, over the death of his father.
Our correspondent exclusively gathered that Emmanuel of Madala village, Karshi, Abuja, at about 10 pm on Tuesday, May 2, killed his father using a pestle, during a fisticuff between the deceased and his (Emmanuel’s) mother.
A police source revealed that the culpable homicide was reported to the Karshi police station by one Yusuf Ayuba, male, of Madala, on Wednesday, May 3.
Emmanuel is currently in police custody and will be arraigned in a juvenile court at the conclusion of the police investigation.
Commenting on the development following an inquiry by our correspondent during a press briefing on Friday, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, said the suspect hit the pestle hard on his father’s head.
Garba said, “It all happened when the suspect’s mother and father engaged themselves in a physical fight.
“The suspect took sides with his mother, used a mortar pestle and hit hard on the father’s head which eventually led to his death.
“The suspect will be arraigned in a juvenile court at the conclusion of investigation.”
