Head coach of the Nigeria Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro have disclosed that Kelechi Iheanacho is fully recovered from his injury and will featured in the match against Cote d’Ivoire.
Iheanacho missed Nigeria’s pre-2023 Africa Cup of Nations training tour in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates due to a muscular problem.
The Leicester City star linked up with the rest of the squad on Sunday morning and was named among the substitutes in Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea.
The 27-year-old has been one of the top performers in training this week and is pushing hard to start the Super Eagles clash with hosts Cote d’Ivoire on Thursday (today).
“Kelechi has recovered fully from his injury. He has trained very well since his arrival here,” Peseiro told reporters in Abidjan.
“It’s good to have him here with us. He is a key member of the team. We will see if he will be able to start against Cote d’Ivoire.”
