Mohamed Salah, the captain of Egypt’s national team, has reportedly left the squad’s camp for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, according to the Egyptian Football Association.
After returning to the UK, Salah will work with his team Liverpool to continue recovering from a muscular ailment.
But the Egyptian FA made it clear in a statement on Sunday night that the 31-year-old will go back to Ivory Coast if they advance to the tournament’s semifinal.
In the hopes that he will join the Egyptian national team if it advances to the semi-finals, the Egyptian FA says that Salah will now go to England for treatment.
On Monday night, the Pharaohs take on Cape Verde in their last Group B game.
They drew with Ghana and Mozambique, thus they are currently down to just two points.
