Anambra State Governor Bans Sports Betting, Casinos, Other Forms of Gambling Services

The Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has placed a ban on any form of gambling services in the state. The governor has directed all such centers to be sealed.

The ban is said to be coming due to reports of non-transparency in the casino machines and the payment system.

According to our reporter, the notice of the ban was jointly signed by “Mr. Donatus Onyenji; the Chairman, Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, Richard Madiebo; and the Commissioner for Homeland Affairs, Chikodi Anara.”

According to the statement, the practice of the gambling centers goes against global procedures. Reports from several gamblers in the state show that the system is being rigged.

The statement revealed that such activities were “fraudulent” and would not be allowed to continue under the administration of Professor Chukwuma Soludo.

The government is also set to hold a meeting with all hotel representatives on October 21. The directive of the state government is said to have also affected hotels, bars, and restaurants with gambling centers.
