Any Troublemaker Arrested During Saturday’s Elections Will Be Seriously Dealt With – FG

The Federal Government has said anyone who plans to cause violence during the November 11 off-cycle governorship elections in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa States will be seriously dealt with.

Speaking during an interview with journalists on Thursday in Abuja, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, said security agencies will deal with anyone who attempts to disrupt Saturday’s election.

The minister, who said the Military would be available in three states, assured voters that nothing would happen to them during the elections.

He said: “Adequate arrangements have been made for security agencies to deal decisively with any noise maker and anyone who wants to cause trouble or crises during the elections.

“The military will be available, ’24/7′, for anyone who wants to contact them.

“I, particularly, will be in the office within the period of the election to ensure safety in the three states. We shall protect the people.

“We shall ensure that the three states will be safe and the people protected.

“I assure Nigerians that the elections will be held amicably; nothing will happen to anyone. The elections will be conducted in these states peacefully.”

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Military has raised the alarm over plans by some criminals to disrupt the off-cycle governorship elections in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa States.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, who made this known during a press briefing on Thursday in Abuja, said the hoodlums plan to disguise as legitimate military troops to perpetrate evil during the Saturday, November 14 governorship polls.

He, however, warned those with such plans to jettison them or face the consequences of their actions, as no individual or group would be allowed to disrupt the elections in the three states.

The military spokesperson reiterated the readiness of the armed forces to provide adequate security and ensure a free, fair, and credible election on Saturday.
