APC Battles Financial Crises Despite Generating Billions From Forms

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is reportedly having difficulties in footing its bills with the campaign season starting in the next few days.

The ruling party is battling this issue despite generating billions of Naira from the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms during their primaries.

APC during its primaries held between April and June raked in over N29bn from the sale of forms.

Big names in the party had thronged the Federal Capital Territory to get their form with the aim of winning the party’s ticket for the 2023 race.

Recall that the ruling party pegged its presidential forms at N100m, governorship, N50m, senatorial, N20m, N10m for House of Representatives and N2m for state house of assembly aspirants

Sources that spoke with Daily Trust on the development said APC is yet to pay the allowances of members of the committee that conducted the primaries in states.

The source further stated that the party is yet to refund chairmanship aspirants the sum of N20 million, following the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of their national convention.

A further report has it that APC has not paid the August salary of its workers at the national secretariat.

A source who spoke on the issue said the money generated by the ruling party was used for logistics, while the remaining was spent to hire venues, mostly hotels for various screening exercises.

He said part of it would be used for the 2023 campaigns.

According to the source, “Well, part of the money went for renting of venues for various exercises.”

The source added that the money used for printing forms was equally removed after the exercise.
