The All Progressives Congress (APC) has berated Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labor Party (LP) for questioning the legitimacy of the victory of Bola Tinubu.
During an appearance on a Channels Television programme, Politics Today, on Tuesday, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the opposition candidates cannot handle defeat, adding that he feels sympathy for them.
He said: “There are people in our democracy who can’t handle the fact that they lost.
“Personally, I feel some level of sympathy for them. You contest an election and you give all you have got, you went into it, hoping to win but you didn’t win, someone else won. The candidate of the APC won the election. He was declared [winner] by INEC.”
Speaking further, Morka said there is no crisis in the ruling APC, and that the internal wranglings being witnessed in the party is not unusual.
He said: “What we are witnessing in the party is normal, people who contested elections and individual party members who are aggrieved by whatever reason are human beings and the constitution of Nigeria guarantees them the right to ventilate to canvass remedial procedures.”
On where the party would zone the position of senate president, he said the APC would soon disclose its decision and will be fair and transparent in its decision.
“Our party is committed to doing fairness, doing justice and doing equity,” Morka said.
