Armed Men Kill Police Officer, Vigilante in Fresh Sokoto Attack

Some heavily armed assailants have allegedly taken the lives of a police officer and a vigilante in a recent attack in Sokoto State.

Raye24reporters learnt that the security officers were on patrol when the gunmen attacked at approximately 3 a.m. on Monday at Kwanan Milgoma, situated along the Sokoto-Bodinga road.

While the spokesperson for the Sokoto Police Command was unavailable for comment at the time of this report, a senior police official, who requested anonymity, verified the occurrence of the attack to Daily Trust.

He indicated that the operatives were caught off guard by the assailants, who arrived in a white Hilux vehicle.

“The gunmen met the operatives at a checkpoint along Sokoto-Bodinga road and opened fire on them. They killed one policeman and a vigilante and went away with two AK-47 rifles.

“Their bodies were deposited at the mortuary of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital,” he said.
