The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Christian leaders in the North, on Wednesday, night held a meeting in the home of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal.
This was made revealed in a post on Twitter by a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode.
It would recalled that the APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu’s choice to pick Senator Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2023 general election, which means the APC will be fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket, has drawn widespread criticism from concerned Nigerians, religious leaders, opposition parties and the Christian Association of Nigeria.
Amongst those to have condemned Tinubu is Babachir Lawal and the Northern APC Christina caucus.
Many have warned Tinubu to drop Shettima as his running mate or risk losing the support of Christians in the North.
In a post on Twitter, Fani-Kayode disclosed that the caucus deliberated on matters touching and concerning Nigeria.
He wrote: “I had the privilege of attending a meeting of Northern Christian APC leaders at the home of my brother, fmr. Sec. to the FG, Dr. Babachir Lawal.
“It was an excellent & well-attended meeting with many fmr. Governors, Dep. Governors, fmr Ministers, fmr. Head of Service, retired Military Generals & Commanders, former & serving Senators & House of Reps members & so many more.
“It was a special joy to see my brother, the fmr. Dep. Governor of Benue, Chief Stephen Lawani & my brother, the fmr Min. of State for FCT & the fmr Dep. Governor of Nassarawa, Sen. Solomon Ewuga, again after so many years.
“It was also a joy to see my brother, the fmr. Speaker of the House of Reps, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, my sister Sen. Grace Bent (the first female Senator in North Eastern Nigeria) & so many other Northern Christian leaders of our party.
“As everyone in our party knows, I chose to register with the APC in the North since I have lived here for over 22 years, and based on that, I was invited to and attended the meeting.
“We had a great time & deliberated on matters touching & concerning our nation.”
