Bomb Blast Kills Four Persons in Kogi State Ahead of President’s Visit

A Bomb Blast in the early hours of Thursday in Okene Town in Kogi State, Central Nigeria, has killed Four Persons.

The blast, occurred at 9am in the morning, behind the palace of the traditional ruler of Okene, West of Lokoja, Capital of Kogi State.

According to eyewitness account, three bombards, rode on a motorcycle in the vicinity of the Ohinoyi Palace, close to the Kwadeko Pharmacy stores, and detonated the explosives, which killed the four victims in the blast.

The incident occurred hours to the arrival of Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, who is scheduled to arrive in the town of Okene at 12 Noon, Nigerian time, to inaugurate the development projects, executed by Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, administration in the state.

Police spokesman in the state, William Aya, Superintendent of Police, (SP) confirmed the incident, adding that police have cuddled off the scene of the bomb Blast while police Investigations into the incident is now in progress.

There has been no reaction yet from the Kogi state government on the bomb Blast, but state government officials are tight-lipped on the incident while the citizens anticipate official explanations.

Meanwhile, Nigerian Leader Muhammadu Buhari, has performed the inauguration of development projects in Okene amid tight security inspite of the explosion in Okene in company of top government officials in the presidency.
