A 13-year-old boy accused of fatally shooting a man on Easter Sunday has been arrested.
Jayden Gunsby was identified as a suspect in the shooting death of Davaris Lindsey, 20, on April 9.
Cops found Lindsey with several gunshot wounds near McGregor and Colquitt streets in LaGrange, Georgia. Lindsey was transported to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center, where he died.
An arrest warrant for Gunsby was issued on April 12.
“This warrant charges Gunsby as an adult due to the offense being a murder charge,’ stated the LaGrange Police Department on Facebook at the time.
Gunsby was taken into custody without incident at the police department around 11.15pm on Monday, April 24.
The NAACP of Troup County helped Gunsby’s family with the surrender.
“We got a call from the family. It was orderly,” Mike Merideth of the NAACP chapter told Channel 2. “There was a lot of emotions and a lot of family support.”
“I know they were familiar with each other. Their exact relationship I can’t really comment on at this time, but they were familiar,” police Lt Mark Cavender told the TV station. “We know there are other parties involved in this.”
It remains an active investigation.
