Liz Truss has resigned as British Prime Minister less than two months after being elected, in a speech to the media on October 20th, 2022.
Liz Truss assumed office on September 5th, 2022 after winning a three-prong contest following the resignation of Boris Johnson.
In her resignation speech, she explained she was resigning because she could not fulfill the mandate for which she was elected. Truss also said she will step down after a new leader has been elected by the party. “I will remain as Prime Minister until a new leader has been chosen.”
