As 2022 draws to a conclusion, Google has released an update for the year 2022 that includes a list of the top 10 searches done in Nigeria. The event that generated the most searches in 2022 was the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), which was on the list.
Following it were searches for the eight-month ASUU strike, iPhone 14, and a total of 10 other frequently searched terms, including Oxlade, NATO, Buga, Peter Obi, Ukraine, the World Cup, and Asake.
Unquestionably a first, Peter Obi is the only presidential candidate listed among Nigeria’s top 10 most searched individuals for the year 2022. Think back to when Peter Obi, who recently announced his intention to run for President, joined the Labour Party.
The Nigerian artist Oxlade, whose sex tape was posted online and became a social media craze, is one of the most sought-after people. Peter Obi, Asake, Black Sheriff, Casemiro, Vladimir Putin, Lisandro Martinez, Antony, Gabriel Jesus, and Raphinha were the other nine people who followed Oxlade.
