President Muhammadu Buhari is in a closed-door meeting with ministers vying for political position in the 2023 general elections.
The President had directed ministers and heads of government agencies seeking elective offices to resign on or before May 16.
In a circular signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, the Nigerian leader asked those seeking clarification on the directive to meet with him.
Speaking on Channels Television on Thursday, Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu, said President Buhari would meet with the exiting minister today by 10 am.
The meeting which started at the Council Chamber of the State House is set to focus on the reason for their exits and possible replacements.
Ministers at the meeting include Rotimi Amaechi (Transportation); Chris Ngige( Labour and Employment); Goodwill Akpabio (Niger Delta Affairs); Abubakar Malami (Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation).
Others are Ogbonnaya Onu (Science, Technology and Innovation); Pauline Tallen (Women Affairs); Uche Ogah (State for Mines and Steel); Timipre Sylva (State for Petroleum Resources) and Senator Tayo Alasoadura (State for Niger Delta Affairs).
