The vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Datti Baba-Ahmed, has expressed optimism that the party would win in Lagos State against all odds.
Baba-Ahmed’s confidence in victory in Lagos State comes despite knowing that the state is a stronghold of the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.
Raye24reporters reports that the Labour Party vice presidential candidate made the pronouncement while featuring on Channels Television’s The 2023 Verdict on Tuesday.
He said “By the grace of God, we have won Lagos, irrespective of Tinubu there. Are they going to come out and spread the people who are voting?”
While predicting other states his party stands a chance to win, Baba-Ahmed admitted that Kaduna is an “APC state” but it falls under “our category,” and winning he said is easy.
“Kaduna is category A in the whole of the North-West,” he added
Baba-Ahmed, who objected to the notion that winning the election is a long shot, listed Yobe and Zamfara as battle states for his but said “Yobe and Zamfara, of course. Those are two good friends.”
He submitted that “It is logical. Many things that have never happened before in Nigeria are happening now with Labour Party. We’re the only three – party chairman, candidate, and vice – born after independence.
“I’m losing modesty here. He’s a correct degree earner, which others cannot show you. I know Kwankwaso says he has a PhD; I don’t boast about a PhD or two master’s degrees.
“The 2023 elections, by the special grace of almighty Allah who gives power, is as good as won by Labour Party because of the mistakes others have made.”
