Speaking at the event which was held at the Nigeria Union of Journalist NUJ Secretariate in Abuja on Thursday, by the Regional Director Dr. Felix Oisamoje, CBN Africa’s impact goes beyond the screen.

He said “CBN humanitarian arm, Operation Blessing, has been a beacon of hope for countless individuals and communities affected by disaster, poverty, and conflict. From providing clean water to conducting life-changing surgeries, CBN Africa’s humanitarian work has touched the lives of many, restoring dignity and hope to those who need it most”.

“As CBN Africa celebrates this milestone, it is clear that its work is far from over. With a renewed commitment to its mission, the organization is poised to continue making a difference in the lives of millions. As Dr. Felix Oisamoje, Regional Director of CBN Anglophone West Africa, noted, “We will not rest on our oars or plateau in our accomplishments. There is much ground to cover, more families to strengthen, and more communities to transform.”

“CBN Africa’s 30th anniversary is a testament to the power of media and compassion to change lives and transform communities. As the organization looks to the future, one thing is clear – its impact will only continue to grow, inspiring countless others to join in its mission to spread hope and inspiration to a world in need”.

Speaking on the attack on journalist in the country, Dr. Felix stressed that journalists are afraid to report the truth because is no more healthy to the practice journalism in Nigeria.

He continued “Part of the problem we’re suffering the journalism, is a desease called self-sensorship, why are we suffering from self-sensorship because some people have done their job and they’ve done it well, you’ve told the truth about what is happening in around your environment and someone in the corridor of power will demand for your arrest, how then will your colleague report the truth, seeing that you were arrested at this point self-sensorship begin to step in and now it will be impossible to engage in effective reporting”.

“So if the government can allow the media practice the trade properly am not saying to practice recklessly and if they do, they’re institutions currently set-up by government to check, they should just allow the institution to do what they want to do and i believe that the practice of journalism and every other aspect of media will blossom and Nigeria will be better”.

While stress on the humanitarian angle and service done by CBN in Bokos, Plateau state and other part of the country, Oisamoje noted that the NGO arms of the organization, have carried out different humanitarian services and training of individuals in Nigeria.

“I just asked Pastor Kama to give me just one estimate for one event we did earlier this month, we went to Bokos in Plateau state, we went to Boko, to do disaster relief program in the community just to take food and other items to disaster victim, we spent over 20 million Naira and that is the second or third we have done in the year, we are not talking about the sewing center i talked to you earlier about teaching people to make shoe, if we are to give you full report on our financial spending, you will be shock “.
