President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday addressed Nigerians over the naira swap policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Raye24reporters had earlier reported that President Buhari during the nationwide broadcast addressed the compelling issue which has led to protests across the country.
Nigerians due to hardship faced following the policy of the CBN had asked the apex bank to print more N200, N500 and N1000 notes.
This is coming after the apex stated that the old notes seized to be legal tender in the country.
President Buhari in his address on Thursday promised that he would direct the CBN to make the new naira notes more available for Nigerians to ease the outcry.
He further stated that the apex bank will make the newly printed naira notes more accessible for Nigerians through banks.
President Buhari in his address said, “Let me assure Nigerians that our administration will continue to assess the implementation with a view to ensuring that Nigerians are not unnecessarily burdened. In this regard, the CBN shall ensure that new notes become more available and accessible to our citizens through the banks.”
