A major Controversy is brewing in Kogi over the whereabouts as well as the state of health of Governor Yahaya Bello.
Unconfirmed reports claimed that the Governor took ill, a few days back and he was said to have collapsed. The Governor is alleged to be battling for his life as we write.
Sources confirmed that he has not been seen performing any State function for the past forty eight hours fueling speculations that he is indeed indisposed.
The nature of his ailment as well as how serious it is can only be left for conjecture at this moment.
Yahaya Bello is expected to hand over the reins of the Confluence State to a new governor in 2024 as preparations are on for a successor to be elected in the next couple of months. Kogi has however been under a siege sort of in the last few months as violence has been unleashed by elements believed to be enjoying government support, who are helk- bent in forcing the choice of Bello’s successor on the people.
At the APC gubernatorial primary earlier in the year, he singlehandedly picked one of his aides, who is also a relation as his preferred successor, jettisoning the much touted rotation of power among the various sections of the highly volatile state .
This is a developing story as efforts to get his spokespersons to comment have not been successful.
