A woman identified as Shamsiyya Abdullahi, who is seeking divorce, has been ordered by Sharia court in Rigasa, Kaduna, to pay the sum of N70,000 to her soon to be ex-husband, Ismail Bello.
The N70,000 to be returned is the amount paid as dowry during the couple’s wedding.
The Judge, Malam Salisu Abubakar-Tureta, also ordered the wife to return two suit cases and vanity kit to Bello.
However, she was allowed to keep the five wrappers and underwear that were in the suitcases.
Bello was asked to pay monthly allowance of N6000 for the upkeep of their child.
Abdullahi had made a complaint about her husband to the court and demanded that the court dissolve the marriage between them. She maintained that she was ready to return her dowry to her husband.
Bello also asked that three suitcases and a vanity kit he gave her as part of traditional rites for their wedding be returned.
