Justice Emeka Nwike of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday ordered the transfer of the former head of the IGP Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari and six others to the Kuje Correctional Center.
The suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police and six others are currently facing charges on drug trafficking.
The Judge in his ruling directed the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA), to transfer the Kyari and other defendants to prison custody.
This is coming shortly after Kyari and others in the drug trafficking case were denied bail.
The court in it ruling had stated that the agency filed sufficient materials before it to warrant the refusal of bail to Kyari and his Co-Defendants.
The likes of ACP Sunday Ubia, Inspector Simon Agirgba, and Inspector John Nuhu, who are former members of IRT were also denied bail.
Other Defendants in the charge marked FHC/ABJ/57/2022, are; ASP Bawa James, as well as two drug traffickers that were arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwane.
The presiding judge, however, granted an accelerated hearing of the case.
